Dean Lin Zhan featured in new book on Chinese American leaders in higher education
UCLA School of Nursing Dean Lin Zhan is one of the higher education leaders featured in a new book from Springer Nature. The publication, The Rise of Chinese American Leaders in U.S. Higher Education: Stories and Roadmaps, features chapters by more than 30 Chinese American leaders across higher education.
Dean Zhan’s chapter, Leading with Passion, Purpose, and Perseverance, highlights her nursing journey from Chengdu, China, to Boston, Mass., to Memphis, Tenn., and eventually to the UCLA School of Nursing.
“Leadership is a journey,” writes Dr. Zhan. “In this journey, passion motivates, purpose directs, and perseverance fuels our energy and efforts; in this journey, we learn and grow to become wiser; in this journey, we continue to lead with passion, purpose, and perseverance.”
The book’s editors, Honggang Yang and Wenying Xu, wanted to close a critical gap in higher education leadership and Asian American Studies literature.
