Support the Fund

The Rhonda Flenoy-Younger Pan African Nursing Student and Alumni Association (PANSAA) Scholarship Fund was created in 2018 to support PANSAA student scholarships. We are launching an endowment campaign for the PANSAA Scholarship fund in honor of Juneteenth. A lead supporter of the fund has made a meaningful donation and offered to match gifts up to $50,000, a dollar-for-dollar match to double the impact. We are overjoyed for such a wonderful opportunity and hope you will support our efforts to endow the PANSAA fund. Please share this endowment campaign far and wide. Gifts of any amount make a difference.

It was no surprise when the PAANSA Scholarship Fund was named after Rhonda Flenoy-Younger, although she was pleasantly surprised when it was presented at her retirement party. She had made it a point to not only get to know most of the nursing students in her role as the Director of Recruitment, Outreach and Admissions and the Assistant Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the UCLA School of Nursing, but she tried to make sure all the African American students knew she was there to support them in any way possible. With her moral support and encouragement, Rhonda has had a lasting impression on the lives of countless students, she explained “PANSAA is like a family and a big part of my life!”

One of the lives Rhonda touched was Dr. Tonia Jones. Rhonda was the first person she met at the School of Nursing in 1994 and she introduced her to PANSAA. “She truly was the heart and soul of the group”, Tonia remarked. Tonia has been a constant at the School of Nursing since then, eventually heading the School of Nursing Alumni Board of Directors. She expressed that PANSAA is close to her heart, and she believes “every dollar given is impactful.”  Now is the time to endow the PANSAA fund as Tonia poignantly offered, “establishing an endowment fund now ensures that there’s an infinite revenue stream which supports generations of diverse nurse scholars and leaders for infinity."
