Dr. Nalo Hamilton selected for 2025 AACN Diversity Leadership Institute
UCLA School of Nursing Associate Dean for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Dr. Nalo Hamilton has been selected to participate in the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s 2025 Diversity Leadership Institute (DLI).
The DLI provides an overview of the current state of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in academic nursing and the role of Diversity Officers in nursing education and practice. Program facilitators frame DEI within the context of higher education and academic nursing while presenting high-involvement strategies and practices that can be deployed at schools of nursing.
Attendees gain new knowledge and experiences designed to stimulate strategic thinking and elevate impact. Program content was designed to increase self-awareness while building skills and capacity to lead change and launch successful DEI-focused initiatives. This program offers the opportunity for participants to develop a diversity plan designed to drive excellence and met local needs. Upon completion, participants will present their projects describing how they will apply their plan within their respective organizations.
Dr. Hamilton has served as Associate Dean for EDI at UCLA Nursing since 2023 and had previously been a part of the school’s DEI Council.
“I am so pleased to have been selected for the 2025 cohort," Dr. Hamilton said. "Through participation in this leadership institute and engaging with national thought leaders, I will be better prepared to negotiate the changing landscape of culture and inclusion in nursing and the academy.”
