Dr. Sungwon Park selected for prestigious occupational health nurse fellowship
The American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN) has selected UCLA Nursing’s Sungwon Park, PhD, RN, as a 2026 AAOHN Fellow.
An assistant professor in the UCLA Joe C. Wen School of Nursing and a faculty in the occupational health nursing program at the UCLA/UCI Southern California Education Research Center, Dr. Park’s research focuses on improving physical activity and reducing sedentary behavior among individuals with metabolic syndrome. She says her prior work as an occupational health nurse greatly influences her research focus and commitment to improving health outcomes among working populations and broader communities. “I am honored to be selected for this distinction by AAOHN,” said Dr. Park. “As a Fellow, I will advance occupational health knowledge and practice, mentor future generations of occupational health nurses, and continue my research on aging workforce health.”
Dr. Park has been a member of AAOHN since 2019 and has served on the organization’s Education Committee since 2024. She joined the UCLA in 2025.
AAOHN Fellows are recognized for being leaders in the field of occupational and environmental health nursing, who have made significant contributions in the areas of clinical practice, education, research, management or policy. Dr. Park will be formally recognized at the upcoming 2026 AAOHN National Conference.
