Wei-Ti Chen receives 2026 Research/Impact Award from the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care
Wei-Ti Chen, RN, CNM, PhD, FAAN, a professor and researcher in the UCLA Joe C. Wen School of Nursing, has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 Research/Impact Award from the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC), an organization dedicated to advancing nursing practice, research, and policy in HIV/AIDS care.
The ANAC Research/Impact Award recognizes individuals whose work has demonstrated significant influence on HIV-related research and clinical practice. Through advocacy, education, and professional collaboration, ANAC supports healthcare professionals addressing the evolving challenges of HIV prevention, treatment, and patient care.
“It is a tremendous honor to receive the ANAC Research/Impact Award. This recognition reflects not only my work, but also the patients, communities, and collaborators who continue to inspire research that is grounded in equity, compassion, and impact,” said Dr. Chen, who also holds the Lulu Wolf Hassenplug Chair in Nursing at UCLA. “I remain committed to advancing culturally responsive approaches that improve care and outcomes for people living with HIV worldwide.”
Her research focuses on improving health outcomes among people living with HIV, particularly in underserved and vulnerable populations. Her work emphasizes culturally responsive interventions, behavioral health, and global health approaches to address disparities in HIV care. She has contributed to advancing knowledge on stigma, treatment adherence, and community-based strategies designed to improve engagement in care and long-term outcomes.
The award highlights the growing impact of research that bridges clinical practice and community needs and recognizes Dr. Chen’s contributions to shaping more equitable and effective HIV/AIDS care.
Dr. Chen will be formally recognized at the ANAC Annual Conference Awards Ceremony, in November.
In addition to this award from ANAC, Dr. Chen was also recently awarded a 2026 Undergraduate Research Week Faculty Mentor Award from the UCLA Division of Undergraduate Education. Nominated by a student researcher, the award honors her dedication to mentoring students and helping them in progress through school and in their careers.
