Thao Rodriguez, BS, MSN, earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from UC Davis. She then attended Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing (JHUSON), where she completed both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in nursing. While studying at JHUSON, she worked as a registered nurse on a surgical floor, caring for patients in urology, thoracic surgery, and general surgery.
Her first position as a nurse practitioner was at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., where she worked as an interventional cardiology nurse practitioner for over a year. She then joined Yale New Haven Hospital–Northeast Medical Group as a geriatric nurse practitioner, providing care for patients at home, in a geriatric assessment center, and in a primary care clinic. She went on to work as a research nurse practitioner at the USC Clinical and Translational Science Institute, where she was responsible for all aspects of patient and research-related care, including serving as a sub-investigator and/or research nurse for multiple studies on the pre-clinical stages of dementia and mild cognitive impairment. More recently, she has been working as a research and clinical nurse practitioner in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias at the UCLA Easton Center for Alzheimer's Disease Research and Care. While at UCLA, she is also pursuing a PhD in nursing and is interested in leveraging technology to improve health outcomes.
