Dr. Manpreet Sidhu’s interest and expertise is in Emergency Medicine. She obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with honors and as a member of the International Society of Scholars from California State University-Fullerton DNP Consortium program. Her primary research focus is mitigating emergency room overcrowding, improving timely access to care, decreasing Emergency Department (ED) throughput and ultimately improving patient outcome.

She spent most of her clinical career in the ED at LAC+USC medical center, where she taught many nurse practitioner and medical students. Her ED time was divided in trauma, medical and orthopedic emergencies, 24-hour medicine hold unit and 48-hour cardiology hold unit. She was part of the team which pioneered a new ED flow process that included same day appointments for Emergency Severity Index (ESI) category 4-5 patients and other programs to decompress the ED and increase access to primary care. Her doctoral project was developing the first advanced-practice nurse led Rapid Medical Evaluation and Treatment (RMET) program which implemented a novel approach to providing optimal care in a timely manner for patients presenting to the ED. Dr. Sidhu is proud to be teaching at her alma mater in the School of Nursing in UCLA.
