Clarissa Cabil, BSN, RN, CCRN, is a clinical nurse in a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Los Angeles, CA. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and holds certifications in Neonatal Critical Care (CCRN-Neonatal) and Neonatal Touch and Massage. 

Clarissa co-chairs multiple system-wide and unit-based committees at her hospital, including the NICU's Unit Practice Council, Magnet Council, and Infection Prevention Committee, leading initiatives to foster professional development, improve clinical practices, and advance nursing excellence. Her evidence-based practice project on neonatal pressure injury prevention has been recognized nationally and has been disseminated at numerous nationwide forums, such as the UCLA Nursing Science and Innovation Conference, the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program Conference, and the National Evidence-Based Practice Conference, where she was honored with the Nurse Residency EBP Poster Award. Her contributions have earned her multiple accolades, including the Southern California Hospital Hero award, the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center Rising Star award, and the Off The Chart: Rewarding Nursing Greatness recognition. 

Currently, Clarissa is pursuing her PhD in Nursing at UCLA, where her research hopes to focus on improving neonatal outcomes through the development of tailored systems for neonatal pressure injury and wound identification, staging, and prevention. Through her clinical and research endeavors, she seeks to generate evidence that bridges science and practice to optimize the quality and safety of neonatal care.
