General Description
Research Intensive Focus on CBPR (2-day program)
July 16 & 17, 2012
Institute participants interested in a Research Intensive Focus on CBPR, in addition to the Basic Overview (Day 1), will learn more in-depth community-based participatory research methods and approaches for establishing collaborative research projects within communities on Day 2, opportunities for immediate consultation during the Institute, with follow-up consultations via email.
What will I learn?
- Strategies for establishing a culturally sensitive community partnership
- Approaches to structuring a participatory research project
- Community-based participatory research (collaborating with the community in all phases of planning and conducting research projects, and disseminating research results)
- Conducting community needs assessments and addressing health literacy
- Establishing and maintaining effective community advisory boards
- Determining mutual interests and setting mutual goals
- Conducting research with special populations e.g., promotoras, high risk youth and parolees
- Community-based collaborative project examples providing community-academic partnership perspectives
- Guidelines for proposal development in participatory research
- Evaluating CBPR Processes
What will it cost?
Registration Fees include nutrition breaks, lunches, and course reference manuals/materials. Travel and accommodation costs are not included.

(Reduced rate for UC/CS Affiliation : $350 U.S.) - Parking not included (Hotel provides parking; current daily campus parking $11/day)
