GAIN - Global Action In Nursing

GAIN is an open forum for the UCLA nursing community to enhance knowledge and participation in global health.   It welcomes all undergraduate and graduate students and faculty who are interested in nursing abroad.  GAIN has helped improve health conditions and education in areas such as Kaihura, Uganda, and Costa Rica.

MECN Students Journey to Sierra Leone

MECN student Desiree Thomas, Robert Maxwell, and Brandon Holiwell set off to spend two weeks at a private hospital in Freetown, Sierra Leone, to raise awareness of the state of healthcare.  From wound care to to spending time in the ICU where patients were suffering from malaria and tuberculosis, the students had a variety of experiences that allowed them to teach and learn at the same time.
