Faculty Research and Clinical Expertise

Dr. Davidson is Director of the UCLA Health System Patient Safety Institute (PSI) and the Program Area Leader, UCLA Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), Evaluation and Tracking Program. As a principal architect, she participated in developing both of these research institutes. Her research, teaching, and professional activities are interdisciplinary in health services policy and management, nursing, dentistry and medicine. Over the past two decades she has co-led several large scale multisite, multimethod research and evaluation studies. Currently she teaches N266: 'Healthcare Systems and Organizations' to graduate nursing students and advanced training programs to post-doctoral students in the health professions. Prior to that, she taught 'Health Services Evaluation: Theory, Methods, and Practice', and 'Management and Organizational Processes'.

Research Areas

Leadership and organizational development, and a "systems perspective" to investigate the effectiveness of policy and the performance of the healthcare delivery system and the health professions workforce.
